10 days full of art, music and parties on surprising locations in the centre of Charlois, Rotterdam South. During the weekend of 2 & 3 and 9 & 10 June the focus is on art in this neighbourhood. Around 140 artists are showing their works in special spots. During the weekdays there are many things to see as well. See festival newspaper the full programme.

The festival is free. There will be a small charge for some of the workshops and concerts. Please reserve a seat via the of the artist’s mail address.
During the weekends several tours will be organised. You can visit artist studios in Charlois with a guide. Let their work surprise you and enjoy the activities offered by the many artists.

LOCATION AND ACCESS
ARE YOU USING PUBLIC TRANSPORT?
CHARLOIS SPECIAAL can be easyly accessed from the centre of Rotterdam.
Check your fastest way on the OV-site 9292, use ‘Charloisse Kekrsingel’ as your destination, then you are in the middle of the festival.
METRO D, heading De Akkers or Slinge, exit at Maashaven station. Take Tram 2, heading for Charlois. Exit at the stop Frans Bekkerstraat. The Charloisse Kerksingel is in walking distance. You are near the old church and in the middle of the festival.
KOM JE MET DE AUTO?
Navigate to Kromme Zandweg or Karel de Stouteplein. Parking is free in this area of town.
ART FESTIVAL CHARLOIS SPECIAAL
Looking for liveliness? Go to Charlois. In this neighbourhood a large community of local and international artists is working and living. Usually unnoticed and behind closed doors. During the weekends of 2 & 3 and 9 & 10 June they will open their doors. The programme of CHARLOIS SPECIAAL leads you to several special locations such as the harbour area, the heart of the old village of Charlois, the Japanese cultural centre Shofukan, the Quarantain building on Heijplaat, artist residencies like B.a.d and ’t O-tje, many galeries and post war housing developments.
During the 13th edition of the festival there are five themes: dogs, gardening, food and drinks, tattoos and textile. They are the starting point of many artist projects that try to connect locals from different cultures, backgrounds and religions. This to stimulate solidarity and liveliness in an area with over 150 nationalities. It will strengthen the relationship between art and local culture.
